WWJD - What Would Jesus Do?

"But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord."
- 2 Corinthians 3:18

Life would be so much easier if we could just copy someone all the time, wouldn't it? So many times, like me, I'm sure that you've just wished you could easily, constantly, look to a simple example right in front of you to know exactly to do, and how to navigate those difficult situations.  Moments of fear, temptation, confrontation, disappointment... all of which would seemingly be so much easier to handle, if we only had a sharp, clear example to follow, right?

Well, the beautiful truth, is that as followers of Jesus Christ, we do.  JESUS is our Great Example in all of these situations of daily living. Jesus Himself told us that being disciple was all about following His example, and becoming like Him.

"Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.Luke 9:23

Jesus promised Peter, and us by extension, that great things would happen if we would simply follow Him, copy Him, and join His path of ministering in this broken world:

"Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Matt 4:19

Paul the apostle seems to have understood this himself, and sought to copy the example if Christ in everything he'd did, in life and ministry:

"Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ." - 1 Cor 11:1

Paul the apostle would go on to teach us, that this is the ultimate objective that the Lord is working out in every Christian believer - to molded and shaped into the image of our great Example, Jesus Christ:

"But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord." - 2 Cor 3:18

So, the reality is, as Christians we DO have a person to copy and imitate in every situation. All we need to do is search the Gospels and discover what Jesus did in that specific situation. If its something that Jesus didn't encounter, we can simply read the teachings of Jesus, thru His apostles, in the rest of the New Testament. Here we'll find a general principle that will show us what to do.

Just like we follow a recipe when cooking, or a blueprint when building, we simply follow the pattern, the Person that was sent into the world to save us and teach us: Jesus Christ!

Today, with whatever situation you are faced with, look to Christ and copy His example from His life or his teachings. The Lord has made it simple, in a sense, for the Christian life to be lived out: look to Jesus and copy Him!
